Have I completed all of the requirements for access to IRP confidential data?

Reference the following list as you complete the requirements for data access. Please keep in mind that some requirements are completed on an annual basis, and some of the items may not apply to you (for example: some projects do not require IRB approval, and some individuals will not need technical Silo access)

A SSCC member agency account is used to access Silo.  (If you’re requesting a new account SSCC staff will contact you with activation instructions). Note that SSCC lab accounts cannot be used for Silo access.

Your project(s) must have all required state agency approvals

If working on a project(s) that is considered human subjects research:

• You must be listed on the Study Team for the approved IRB protocol for project(s)
• You must have up-to-date certification of UW online human subjects training (or home institution training if non-UW). Check your training status and expiration date using this lookup tool.
• You must have completed an Outside Activities Report for the current year (UW faculty/staff/students only)

IRP Data Security Training is required.  You must have read the online Data Security Manual, with the understanding that IRP data security training is renewed annually for continued access.

If you already have access to Silo:

• You must complete this year’s UW HIPAA Training Requirement. Check your training status using this lookup tool. Non-UW collaborators: HIPAA training provided by your home institution will suffice. If HIPAA training is not available to you at your institution, you can take the external version of the UW course.

If you will be accessing Silo for the first time:

• You must complete this year’s UW HIPAA Training Requirement. Check your training status using this lookup tool. Non-UW collaborators: HIPAA training provided by your home institution will suffice. If HIPAA training is not available to you at your institution, you can take the external version of the UW course.
• You must read the Using Silo documentation
• You must complete the SSCC Silo Access Agreement (SSCC online form)
• You must change your SSCC account password to a new one, which is at least 14 characters long
• You should download Citrix Workspace and Duo and test your 2-factor authentication at the Silo login (see the Using Silo documentation above for more info).
