Lauren Schmitz

Lauren Schmitz is an Assistant Professor at the La Follette School of Public Affairs, University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her research utilizes social, genomic, and epigenomic data from population-based longitudinal studies to examine how social and biological processes interact to shape disparities in health and socioeconomic outcomes. Her research has been supported by the National Institute on Aging (K99/R00 recipient), the National Science Foundation, the Social Security Administration, the Russell Sage Foundation, the National Bureau for Economic Research, and the March of Dimes. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the New School for Social Research and an M.S. in Human Genetics from the University of Michigan.
