Lucius Couloute

Lucius Couloute is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Trinity College. His research, broadly speaking, involves the multiple causes and consequences of mass criminalization. Couloute’s recently published work explores the structural mechanisms contributing to homelessness among criminalized populations, in addition to articles on how people leaving prisons conceptualize the reentry experience. He is currently working on projects examining: labor market exploitation among formerly incarcerated people, how families negotiate the criminalization of loved ones, and the impact of direct cash transfers in the lives of people with felony records.

Couloute was also an IRP Visiting Poverty Scholar in Spring 2022, and he chose to visit the Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
