In early 2021, the Interagency Technical Working Group on Evaluating Alternative Measures of Poverty released a report with recommendations on developing alternative measures of poverty. While the government currently produces two main poverty measures, the official poverty measure and the supplemental poverty measure, the working group recommended the development of an additional measure or measures that would use administrative data and consumption information, along with other adjustments.

In this webinar, Bruce Meyer, who co-chaired the working group, provides an overview of the group’s approach and recommendations and David Johnson serves as a discussant.
